Why “Itinerant Curiosity”?

Drawing of a woman's face

A very flattering drawing of me by artist Mary Laabs.

As a freelancer, my time and my talent go where the work is. My skills travel, and are thus itinerant.

As a writer, a typical column by me isn’t, well, typical. My curiosity wanders with my talents.

I write about studies in JAMA and I break down veterinary research into layperson-friendly prose, but I also write about my family, odd facts about election law, and lots of other things that get me wondering.

For instance, in looking up the title of this site, I discovered that Bret Harte used it in his story Bulger’s Reputation. I’m in good company.
